Far too many young drivers take crash courses during their high school years. Unfortunately, those crashes happen on our roadways, not in the classroom. Take for example, the smashed vehicle above.
To help prevent crashes like that among young drivers, the Plymouth Public School Department and the Plymouth Police Department, with the support of King Collision Center and Commerce Insurance, have embarked on a safe driving campaign at both Plymouth North and Plymouth South high schools.
If you’re a new driver, please be sure to review the safe driving tips below. We’ve also added a link below for safe driving tips in the winter.
As part of the Plymouth Safe Driving campaign, we are encouraging young drivers at both Plymouth South High School and Plymouth North High School to sign a contract with their parents or guardians agreeing to follow a code of conduct behind the wheel. Students who turn in a signed contract to their respective school administrator will be entered into a drawing to win a spot to attend In Control’s Crash Prevention Training course (a $350 value!).
To enter the drawing, Plymouth South students or parents can send signed agreement to: Mr. Chris Baker, Director of Technical Studies, Plymouth South High School, 490 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360, cbaker@plymouth.k12.ma.us.
Plymouth North students or parents can send signed agreement to: Ms. Andrea Norton, SADD, Plymouth North High School, 41 Obery Street, Plymouth, MA 02360, anorton@plymouth.k12.ma.us.
Not only does taking the In Control course provide young drivers invaluable training—there’s a 70% reduction in crashes for new drivers and 50% reduction in the severity of those that do crash--but it can also earn you a discount off your auto insurance. In fact, everyone who enters the drawing is eligible for a 10 percent discount off the cost of the course. Simply follow this link and enter “PlymouthSafeDriving” in the coupon code section of the payment screen or mention the discount when registering by phone.
Please stay tuned to this Web site for future safety updates.
